MachineIdCreator Application has encountered a problem and needs to close

I have been using McAfee for quite long time but the biggest problem with McAfee is that it does everything excpet protecting computer from Viruses and Malware. Not I’m not being sarcastic, this is the fact. My laptops/PCs crash due to virus infection or malware infection at least 2-3 times a year.

McAfee might be able to detect and protect against some commonly known viruses but it doesn’t protect against malware.

So I decided to try Avast.

I was installing Avast trial version on my PC and came across this error.

MachineIdCreator Application has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

First I couldn’t find out the source of this error and tried to ignore it. But it popped up again, so I decided to nail it down.

In the error window when I clicked on the details I came to know the real culprit.

It turned out to be the Avast antivirus which I was installing on my PC.

You can’t easily find that it is Avast. MachineIdCreator.exe application doesn’t give any more information. but if you look at the avguidx.dll it has got AVG which is Avast.

This doesn’t stop Avast installation and installation goes through.
